WHERE IT ALL HAPPENS
Located in the centre of Little Baddow, just seven miles from Chelmsford, our quarter-acre field is at the edge of the Heather Hills Nature Reserve with a small stream that joins us to the River Chelmer. Although so close to urban life, Plum Meadow is a real pocket of biodiversity and untouched nature. This is why we will never use chemical fertilisers or pesticides in anything we do and have a constant focus on what is best for the land we are working on and the wildlife we share it with.
Our growing season is between April and October, weather permitting. You can expect to find a whole mix of flowers depending on the season - from narcissus and ranunculus, sweet peas and cosmos to dahlias and sunflowers. As well as the odd vegetable when the abundance of summer is upon us!

PERMANENTLY MUDDY HANDS
Having worked on several mixed farms, learning about permaculture and regenerative farming; as well as setting up my own allotment style garden to feed my family from; I well and truly have an obsession with all things growing. In late 2021 I was given the opportunity to rent a quarter acre field just 10 miles from where I grew up. Growing a mix of fruits, veggies and a whole lot of flowers, from this, Plum Meadow was born and flowers are now my biggest passion. I love everything cottage garden and blooms that feel a little wild and free. Perhaps that says something about me!

SUSTAINABILITY & MORE
What started as an interest in good produce has grown into an understanding that the way we farm and the choices we make as consumers has the power to do so much good in the world. This is why we only grow with the seasons; without the use of heated greenhouses, chemicals or importing flowers from hundreds of miles away. As we are a small-scale British flower farm we can’t compete with the cheap prices of monocultured, wholesale growers, who have dominated the floral industry for so long. But we can provide another option. For florists and customers who care where their flowers come from and where their money goes. We grow beautiful and eco-conscious flowers, with mixes of varieties you just wouldn’t find in the supermarket.
